Celebrity Wedding Dresses of the Past Decade
A look back in the wedding hall of fame reveals some interesting choices when it comes to celebrity wedding dresses. While we look to celebrities as trendsetters and style icons, we cannot help but wonder if some wedding dress blunders could have been avoided if someone had stopped to ask for a second opinion. Hate them or love them – here are a few of the celebrity wedding dress choices that certainly made a statement in the last decade.
Keira Knightley – 2013
The beautiful actress married her rocker fiancé, James Righton, in May of 2013. Interestingly enough, Keira wore her short, tulle Chanel wedding dress (complemented with flats and a cropped Chanel boucle jacket) for the first time in 2008 at a BAFTA awards party, and again in December of 2013 – this time adding different accessories. Keira is proof that when altered correctly, anyone can wear their wedding dress more than once.
Kim Kardashian – 2014
On the 24th of May 2014, Kim Kardashian wed music artist, Kanye West, in a ceremony that rivals most celebrity weddings. Kim’s custom-made Givenchy Haute Couture wedding dress featured sheer panelled lace, long sleeves and a floor-length, silk veil.
Ciara – 2016
In July of 2016, singer Ciara married her beau, Russell Wilson, in a fairy-tale wedding at the famous 19th century Peckforton Castle. With a venue so extravagant, Ciara made sure her dress was the real star of the day. Ciara’s dress was heavily embellished with lace, embroidery, appliqués, tulle, and glistening beading. The corset-front dress, sheer-lace bell sleeves, and long train were all it took to create the wedding fashion statement of the year.
Rose Leslie – 2018
Better known for their respective roles as Ygritte and Jon Snow in the critically acclaimed show Game of Thrones, Rose Leslie and Kit Harington got married in June 2018. Rose’s dress was a gorgeous vintage Elie Saab design complete with top-to-bottom lace and embroidery. The fit-and-flare wedding dress also sported long sleeves and was complemented by a thin, white belt at the waist.
Miley Cyrus – 2018
In a surprise wedding during December of 2018, Miley Cyrus married Liam Hemsworth. Miley’s dress was an off-shoulder, ivory Vivienne Westwood gown made from luxurious silk crepe that draped across the bodice. Miley kept her special day minimalistic, yet stylish with a small ceremony and simple dress.
