8 Famous Lace Wedding Dresses to Inspire You
Everyone enjoys a good love story. Watching celebrities and popular royals tie the knot allows the rest of us, in some way, to live out our romantic fantasies. Nothing is more satisfying than the happy ending where the prince whisks the princess off into the sunset, her wedding dress trailing behind her. If you spend Friday nights delighting in romantic comedies and secretly know every detail about the last royal wedding, then you probably enjoy the enchantment of it all.
Now that your own wedding is around the corner, however, you might experience some pressure to get it right; the perfect venue, perfect hair, and the perfect dress. Do not yet know with which fabric to work? How about lace? The timeless fabric has stood the test of time in bridal fashion – and you can incorporate this magic into your own gown. If you need a little inspiration when it comes to your gown, then have a peek at our list of eight famous lace wedding dresses.
Kate Middleton in Alexander McQueen
When Prince William’s betrothed darling, Catherine Middleton, walked down the aisle, the world had not witnessed such a beautiful bride since Diana, Princess of Wales. Kate’s wedding dress was designed by Sarah Burton, the creative director of the brand “Alexander McQueen”. Delicate lace adorned her ivory bodice and arms with whimsical floral patterns. The high collar allowed for a daring, plunging V-neck without showing too much skin, while the full skirt billowed out behind her.
Kim Kardashian in Givenchy
Kim and Kanye West’s ceremony in 2014 was, for the most part, a relatively private affair. What we do know from some of the released photographs is that the most famous Kardashian opted for a Givenchy Haute Couture gown created by Riccardo Tisci. Sheer panel cut-outs, a high neckline, open back, a rounded train, and a gorgeous lace overlay are jaw-dropping examples of how well high fashion and romance blend together.
Ciara in Roberto Cavalli
When singer Ciara got married in 2016, her dress by designer Peter Dundas looked like something out of a fairy-tale book. With a massive castle as the backdrop, nobody could take their eyes off the impossibly lengthy train and medieval sleeves. Covered in top-to-bottom Chantilly lace appliqué, the details begin to jump out the more you look.
Kaley Cuoco in Reem Acra
If anyone asks about bridal fashion goals, then nobody can forget Kaley’s Reem Acra silk chiffon gown and cape dripping in lace. To end the evening off with a party we are sure was unforgettable, Kaley donned a plunge-neck, figure-hugging lace jumpsuit by Tadashi Shoji.
Grace Kelly in Helen Rose
The world was served wedding dress inspiration in Monaco during Grace Kelly’s 1956 ceremony. The gown itself needed to make a statement – after all, 600 guests were all craning their necks to see it. MGM Studios gifted the dress to her, and with all the embroidered antique Brussels lace used, we do not think she was disappointed.
Priyanka Chopra in Ralph Lauren
As someone of the Hindu faith, Priyanka took part two ceremonies with Nick Jonas – a white wedding and a traditional, Hindu ceremony. For the first ceremony, Priyanka used fine lace details to trim the collar and sleeves of her gown, while the rest was a column dress embellished with 2 390 000 mother of pearl beads.
Pippa Middleton in Giles Beacon
The Middleton sisters clearly have great taste as both have made our list of favourites. Pippa, during her 2017 ceremony, graced the aisle with a custom, cap sleeve gown. The heart-shaped back cut-out and lace craftsmanship were indeed a wonder to behold.
Nikki Reed in Claire Pettibone
Gorgeous couple Nikki Reed and Ian Somerhalder wed in 2015 in what we can only describe as vintage boho glamour. Her fit-and-flare wedding dress with an illusion neckline and three-quarter sleeves looked ethereal wrapped in soft, luxurious lace. From the man on her arm to her lace-trimmed train, we cannot help but envy this beauty.
