We love, love stories! How did you and your husband meet?

Hein and I worked for sister companies and we met a few years ago during Fire Marshal training which we were both nominated for. I had absolutely no idea why anyone would trust me to take charge if anything is on fire, but, I went anyway. Looking back, I know exactly why I had to be there.

And how did he propose?

We were on holiday together in Coffee Bay in the Eastern Cape. Hein decided to take me to The Hole in the Wall which is south of Coffee Bay for some sightseeing. The Hole in the Wall is magical, it is a natural arch that takes the form of a hole pierced through a wall of sandstone and shale by the waves of the sea located at the mouth of the Mpako River. We walked for what seemed like forever, in awe of our surroundings, until he finally stopped. He took both my hands in his, got down on one knee and he proposed. That moment was the beginning of the rest of our lives. We have been inseparable ever since.

What was the favourite part of your wedding day?

My favourite part of our wedding day was our emotional, heartfelt, spirit filled wedding ceremony.

You fitted a variety of wedding dresses, how did you know when it was ‘the one’ and what did you love most about your wedding dress?

I knew exactly what I wanted from the beginning. That makes the process so much easier. I wanted a long-sleeved lace wedding gown, so when Wendy showed me the timeless Suki gown by Modeca, it was love at first sight!

How did you decide on the look and feel you wanted to have as a bride?

I wanted a classic, timeless look. I feel that I have accomplished exactly that.

What advice would you give future brides when it comes to wedding dress shopping?

My advice to future brides when it comes to wedding dress shopping is to try on different styles of dresses, that way you will be able to see exactly which style would work for your body shape. You may end up choosing a dress that you never would have pinned on Pinterest! When I decided to go shopping for my dream dress, I asked only my mother to accompany me. Too many opinions with regards to a wedding dress can be just as detrimental as it can be valuable. I kept it simple, I loved my wedding dress – my mom loved my wedding dress.
