We love, love stories! How did you and your husband meet, and how did he propose?
“We were just kids when we fell in love, not knowing what it was.” – ‘Perfect ‘ by Ed Sheeran.
I believe this song is written just for us. We met in high school when we were just kids. We didn’t know much at the time, but we knew what we felt for each other was going to grow strong, quickly!
…And we were right! Four years later he bent the knee… We went for a ‘convenient’ game drive on a Friday afternoon to a special spot where we always go if we just want to be close to nature, have sundowners and spending quality time with our loved ones. We got out of the car and walked towards a beautiful wooden log, that just ‘happened to be there”. He popped the question, and it was a proposal perfect for us, close to nature, where our hearts are! Ten months later we got married on the very same spot!
What was the favorite part of your wedding day?
Without a doubt, the first glimpse I got of Stephen when I was walking down the aisle! The moment I saw him I was flooded with calmness, peace and so much love. It felt so reassuring seeing him on the other side of the aisle, knowing he was waiting for ME, his bride in white!
You fitted a variety of wedding dresses, how did you know when it was ‘the one’ and what did you love most about your wedding dress?
I saw the ‘Tibet’ in the catalogue first and immediately decided to fit the dress. That was also the first of six dresses I tried on. I experienced love at first sight (all brides will recognize the feeling I’m referring to). But for the sake of being a woman, and out of curiosity I tried the rest of the dresses on. When the time came to pick the favorite, there was no question about it, I went for the one and only, ‘Tibet’.
The moment my mom told me that the dress complements and showcases my personality is when I decided that it was ‘the one’! The dress didn’t scream out “here comes the bride”, but rather whispered it gently… Being a ‘less is more’ girl, that was exactly what I wanted to hear!
How did you decide on the look and feel you wanted to have as a bride?
When it comes to executing your vision, it is important to know exactly what you want. Throughout the whole process of planning I kept my vision close to my heart and stayed true to myself. Every time I had a decision to make I asked myself ‘is this who I am?’ and ‘is this what I truly want?’ The people involved knew me well and also shared my vision and dreams.
It is important to remember that your wedding day is YOURS. If you do what your heart desires, your look and feel will come naturally. We all know that natural beauty is the best beauty!
What advice would you give future brides when it comes to wedding dress shopping?
Dress shopping is one of the biggest highlights and it becomes a memory that will be treasured forever. Make sure you have beautiful memories!
I decided to only take my mother and my mother-in-law along, and I loved every single moment! I advise that you don’t tag everyone along, because too many opinions can ruin your experience and cloud your judgment. Keep it simple, keep it small, trust yourself…You won’t regret it!
