Every bride wants to have a wedding day that is romantic, fun and memorable for all the right reasons. So it goes without saying that the dress is one of the most important aspects, if not the most important, of the wedding.

While bridal fashions do not change significantly from one season to another, there are still some trends in detail, colour and shape that are definitely noteworthy. This spring, 2016 bridal trends incorporate some interesting trends ranging from long sleeves to pants!

Long Sleeve Wedding Dress Bridal Trends

Here are a few bridal trends you may want to keep in mind:

1.  Sleeves:

Long sleeves have been made popular by Kate Middleton and the trend is being followed on all the prominent runways. When most of us hear the word “sleeve”, it generally comes with this image of covered up and not showing skin, but sleeves can now be gossamer sheer and naked looking with detail such as lace, sequins, embroidery and beading used to stimulate visual interest.

So far, our favourites include:

2.  Low backlines:

For those who like to show off a bit of skin on the day, low backlines and illusion backlines remain on trend since last year. Illusion backlines expose backs through stylish cut-outs, fine lace and transparent, sheer panels, which can be both stylish and sexy at the same time.

When it comes to illusion backlines, we simply adore these dresses:

With Low / Keyhole backlines, these are a few you may want to consider:

3.  Adventurous necklines:

The backline is not the only thing to plunge this spring! There is a lot of focus on the neckline this spring; it has to be a feature of the dress and could either be ultra-high or ultra-low. Certain designers have even combined the low and high necklines by using a solid fabric for a low neck and then cover it up with turtleneck tops in lace or other sheer fabrics. A few examples to look at:

4. Watercolours:

Last year featured a lot of pastel shades, such as light pink, and this year various shades are still being used in any watercolour hue, or champagne, mocha or blush colour variations. A wash of light colours donned the runways and these are a good alternative to the usual, traditional white or ivory. Our collection includes, but are not limited to the following:

4. Luxurious gold tones:

Who doesn’t like gold? With the upcoming months, nothing will say glamour as much as gold. Combine this with the right skin tone and you will definitely be the belle of the ball. Two dresses that may just be perfect for you are:

  • Savanna  (2016 Le Papillon Collection)
  • F171003  (2016 Jasmine Collection)
5. Intricate beading:

With intricate beading you can create gorgeous patterns that can help to streamline your body lines or add beautiful detail to what may have been a somewhat plain wedding gown. Here are a few beautiful examples from our collection:

6. Detailed Straps:

There is nothing as unattractive as a wedding gown that you need to pull up the whole time and if you do not wear strapless gowns on any other occasion, it may be wise to rather opt for a wedding gown with straps. If the image of spaghetti straps are what you imagine, you will definitely be surprised how exquisite detailed straps may be and what a difference it can make to your dress. Here are a few examples of what we are talking about:

2016 will surely not disappoint and we can’t wait to see what will be a firm favourite for our brides-to-be! Of course, if you’re struggling to find that one specific dress that has your name written all over it, our ladies at Timeless Bridal will be more than happy to help you find it!
